Hyundai Motor Group is making a historic $5.8 billion investment to build its first North American steel manufacturing facility right here in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. This state-of-the-art facility will play a critical role in Hyundai’s fully integrated, U.S.-based supply chain, supporting its automotive manufacturing operations across the country.

About the Facility
- Will import 3.6 million tonsof iron ore annually
- Will produce approximately 2.7 million metric tons of steel per year
- Will distribute finished steelby rail and truck to Hyundai,Kia, and other U.S. automakers
- Located in the RiverPlex MegaPark in Ascension Parish, with construction scheduled to begin 2026

Construction at the Riverplex MegaPark is Set to Begin in 2026

A low-carbon, fully integrated steel mill will be located on approximately 1,700 acres in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, anchoring the RiverPlex MegaPark on the Westbank of the Mississippi River in Ascension Parish. At approximately 17,000 acres, RiverPlex is the largest undeveloped tract along the deep-water Mississippi River.
