First Solar in Louisiana 

First Solar is expanding its American solar manufacturing footprint into the heart of Acadiana in Iberia Parish. The new advanced manufacturing facility is expected to be commissioned in the
first half of 2026. The new facility will use First Solar’s proprietary process to transform sheets of glass into fully functioning solar panels - capable of generating clean electricity from sunlight -
in approximately four and a half hours.

Who is First Solar?
Arizona-headquartered First Solar is unique among the world's largest solar manufacturers for being the only US-headquartered company. It is also unique for the fact that its US factories rely on a largely American supply chain, with its modules being produced with American glass and steel.

The company produces a uniquely American thin film solar technology and already operates three manufacturing facilities in Ohio. It currently employs more than 3,000 people across the country. Its Acadiana facility will be its fifth in the U.S..
